Responding to Yemen crisis!
-Dr. Abdul Ruff
Sunni-Shi’a divide seems to be deep rooted and explosive by nature. The divide works against Islam. Not only anti-Islamic world exploits the imaginative but deadly divide in Islamic world to their own advantages, but also, it helps the enemies of Islam to accelerate the globally circulated awful trend: Islamophobia. World now looks at Islam as a religion without proper guidance and essential truthfulness, selfish, unruly.
USA and its western allies and Israel want the war in Yemen to deteriorate so that they could sell more weapons to Saudi Arabia and its Sunni allies on the one hand and to Iran and allies, on the other.
Needless to say, instead of using their extra money on poor Muslim communities especially in third word, the Arab nations are wasting their resources on terror goods. Wars make Mideast more vulnerable and Palestine issue gets backtracked. Israel would naturally feel elevated by inner war in Arab Islam.
Needles to state, unfortunately, Saudi Arabia where Islam was born to save humanity from decaying, seems to be promoting the anti-Islamic process by belittling and terrorizing the Shi’ite nations. Maybe, Saudi government is doing it just for fun but the consequences of that fun are devastating. Maybe, Saudi rulers derive sadistic pleasures by rhetorically attacking Iran and Syria or militarily attacking Yemen but they are answerable for their historic mischief.
Unable to do anything about the Israeli expansionist drives in Palestine territories, unwilling even to criticize the USA and Europe for their continued support for the “fascist” Zionist regime in Mideast and shielding Israeli crimes against humanity, Saudi Arabia shows its anger only to Shiite nations because none would ever try to stop wars between Sunni-Shi’a sects in Islam, because all anti-Islamic nations just like and, if possible, promote mutual attacks among Muslim nations and consequent destructions in Islamic, particularly Arab world.
Global media sponsoring Islamophobia and targeting Islam and Muslim nations, fuel crises in Muslims nations by spreading lies against Muslim groups, their intentions.
By brutally following the USA that control world nations, including Arab nations, Saudi Kingdom also wants to showcase its importance in Arab nations by brutally attacking neighboring nations, Earlier, Saudi Arabia attacked Bahrain and now has moved its military into Yemen. Saudi rulers know the USA would not threaten or attack Riyadh for its action in Yemen.
The Saudi-led intervention marked a major escalation of the Yemen crisis, in which Iran supports the Shi’ite Muslim Houthis, and Sunni Muslim monarchies in the Gulf back Hadi and his fellow Sunni loyalists in Yemen’s south.
Iran raised with USA the Saudi-led military operation against Iranian-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen, as did US Secretary of State John Kerry ahead of nuclear negotiations in Switzerland with Tehran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Kerry spoke to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council members and welcomed their action against the Houthis, a senior US official said.
Washington and Tehran take opposing stands on Saudi-led air strikes in Yemen against Shi’ite Houthi rebels allied to Iran who are fighting to oust Yemen’s president.
Iranian president Rouhani also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said. On his Twitter feed, Rouhani said he raised military operations in Yemen launched by Iran’s regional rival Saudi Arabia with all four leaders.
Earlier, Iranian media quoted Zarif as condemning the Saudi-led military operation against the Shi’ite Muslim Houthi fighters in Yemen, and demanding that it stop. By contrast, Kerry spoke to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council members on Thursday and welcomed their decision to take action against the Houthis, a senior US official said. However, neither Kerry nor Zarif responded when asked by a reporter in Lausanne to comment on the air strikes.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan accused Iran of trying to dominate the Middle East and said its efforts have begun annoying Ankara, as well as Saudi Arabia and Gulf Arab countries. “Iran is trying to dominate the region,” Erdogan said in a press conference. “Could this be allowed? This has begun annoying us, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. This is really not tolerable and Iran has to see this”. “Warplanes from Saudi Arabia and Arab allies struck at Houthi forces in Yemen, who have taken over much of the country in their campaign to oust President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
Turkey earlier said it supports the Saudi-led military operation against Houthi rebels in Yemen and called on the militia group and its “foreign supporters” to abandon acts which threaten peace and security in the region. Erdogan said the conflict has evolved into a sectarian one and urged Iran to withdraw. “Iran has to change its view. It has to withdraw any forces, whatever it has in Yemen, as well as Syria and Iraq and respect their territorial integrity,” he said.
Iran’s support for Yemen has brought Sunni world and Turkey together without real ideological perspectives or Islamic commitment but that is not in the interests of genuine Islam.
Major Muslim nations now operate against Islamic faith and message of holy Quran. War among Muslim nations is the result of absence of commitment to Islam- especially one led by Saudi Arabia the absence of spiritual vision.
