Palestine: Will Netanyahu or Obama reinvent the peace process? Part -I
-Dr. Abdul Ruff
To begin with a positive note on current status of Palestine, troubled by Israel, USA and Egypt directly, one can say Palestinians are on the verge of obtaining full statehood of much delayed Palestine state legally through the UN sooner or later, with or without Israeli support. .If USA and Israeli twins support the move of Palestinians to have home of their won in Mideast, the process could be quicker and easier. Simultaneous peace process could further accelerate the establishment of Palestine state in Middle East.
Occupiers worldwide are more powerful than the occupied nations and use military and police to silence any noise of discontentment against foreign yoke, for freedom and sovereignty. It appears freedom and sovereignty of Palestinians, who continue to be the subject of Zionist criminal military occupation and oppressive policies of hawkish Israeli regime, elected by anti-Arab Jews and supported by fanatic Americans with democratic pretensions.
Due mainly to the policies of USA and Europe (and other weapon allies of Israel) promoting a fascist regime of criminal minded Jews in Mideast against the genuine interests of Arabs, millions of Palestinians whose families were violently expelled from their homes by Jewish settlers in Mandate Palestine in 1947-48 remain stateless. These include the people of Gaza, the West Bank (four million) and a million or more in Diasporas in Lebanon, Syria, and other countries. A million Palestinians are now citizens in Israel, obviously used against the Palestine state. Many Palestinians now live in the United States. Reports say five million Palestinians at least remain stateless.
Israel keeps bringing in Jews from other countries for resettlement in Israel for which Israeli military pursues expansionist policy to kill or oust Palestinians and confiscate their lands and employ Palestinians as cheap daily wage laborers at construction sites. Americans work there as engineers and contractors for illegal colonies. American Jews control White House in such a way even president Is not able to change anything that would affect the Jews.
Hours before Israel’s elections on 18th March, incumbent Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu declared that as long as he remained in power there would be no independent Palestinian state and of course he was not joking and many in Washington know he means business. Not only that. In order to make Americans continue to support Jewish criminal state, Israel says whoever moves to establish a Palestinian state would invite terrorists to attack Israel. His declaration was a major part of a strategy that saw Netanyahu rise from polling several points behind the more liberal Zionist Union a few days before the vote to surprise election victory.
True, the unexpected historic defeat of Rajapaksa in Sri Lanka became an alert for hawkish Netanyahu who uses English like a honest gentleman, to manipulate the elections by last minister adjustments. The same logic explains the unexpected victory for the ruling conservatives of Britain in the general poll.
Under extreme pressure over the real possibility that he will lose the March 17 elections, Netanyahu made a powerful appeal to his far right wing constituency by openly admitting that he will never allow a Palestinian state and that he intends to flood Israeli squatters into East Jerusalem and its environs to make sure this Occupied territory never returns to the Palestinians.
Many specialists on Mideast, particularly on Palestine, wonder as to what would happen to the peace process in favor of a Palestine state as neither Israel has been serious about Palestine to exist as its neighbor nor its mentor USA able to contain Israeli military. USA, on the contrary, supplies latest weapons to Israel. The way people of Israel voted for Likud party in fact harming the fragile peace process one gets the impression that at least one fourth of Israelis are against the existence of Palestine and US presidents seek the historic US-Israeli relations to be in tact notwithstanding fascist instincts of Israelis. Do Americans share values with Israelis- the essentially component of US foreign policy?
