India and Pakistan cross swords over legitimacy!

- Pakistan to raise with USA India’s role in abetting violence in the country!
Pakistan wants to make its Strategic Dialogue with USA purposeful and useful for the nation and people at large.
Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry is on his way to Washington for talks with US leaders.
Even as India and Pakistan are working towards joint cricket exercises by modeling Pakistan-Bangladesh series played to the advantage of Islamabad, Pakistan government is expected to discuss with the US leaders during Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry’s meetings with top Obama administration officials the alleged role of India’s external spy agency RAW in abetting violence in the country a media report said
The decision to raise the matter with the USA was taken after a series of allegations by top Pakistani leaders against RAW’s support for militancy and its involvement in tribal troubles in Balochistan. Chaudhry, who left for the USA over the weekend, is expected to share with US officials evidence of RAW’s is increasing involvement in stoking terrorism in Pakistan.
India has always rejected such allegations by Pakistan and blamed it for all terror attacks in India. Chaudhry will lead a Pakistani delegation at an important meeting of the working group under the Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue in Washington tomorrow.
Chaudhry’s talks would focus on bilateral relations, as well as issues related to arms control, nuclear non-proliferation and international security. The meeting is a part of the on-going Strategic Dialogue between the two countries. The top diplomat is also scheduled to meet senior US officials during his stay in Washington.
A newspaper quoted officials saying that Chaudhry was given a brief by the Sharif government to inform the Obama administration about the alleged involvement of India in fomenting unrest in Pakistan, the report said. He is also expected to raise the issue of recent statements given by India’s Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in which he called for “neutralizing terrorists through terrorists”. Is India planning to recruit its own terrorists to attack Pakistan?
Islamabad says such controversial statements confirmed its fears that Indian secret agencies were involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan. Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz also indicated yesterday that Pakistan would expose India at the international level for stoking unrest in the country. Speaking at a function organised by Nazria Pakistan Council, Aziz made it clear that Pakistan would not allow its enemies to undermine the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.
Pakistan is deeply worried that India is trying to disrupt the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.
India has raised concern over the project as it goes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He also insisted that the Indian ambition for “hegemony” in the region would not be allowed to succeed. Aziz said that Pakistan’s nuclear explosions in 1998 had shattered India’s dream to establish its hegemony in the South Asian region.
Today Pakistan possesses as many nukes as India does, though much more than Israeli arsenals.
- India objects to Pakistan staging Gilgit-Baltistan polls!
Like India, Pakistan is also trying hold polls in Gilgit-Baltistan, a disputed region of Jammu Kashmir in order to claim permanent legitimacy over the region. India calls the region an integral part of India and Pakistan illegally occupies.
Pakistan is conducting polls on June 8 in Gilgit-Baltistan under the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Government Order but the act has angered its nuclear rival India because both jointly occupy Jammu Kashmir sandwiched between them in order to create a buffer zone where they could wage occasional wars to terrorize the Kashmiris. . ..
India has flagged its objections to elections being held in Gilgit-Baltistan, which forms a part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and termed the move as an attempt to camouflage the ‘forcible and illegal’ occupation of the region.
India says the entire state of Jammu Kashmir, which includes the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, is an integral part of India. The election in Gilgit-Baltistan next week, under the so called Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Government Order, is an attempt by Pakistan to camouflage its forcible and illegal occupation of the regions.
New Delhi says India is concerned by the continued efforts by Pakistan to deny the people of the region their political rights and the efforts being made to absorb these territories. The fact that a federal minister of Pakistan is also a governor of Gilgit-Baltistan speaks for itself. Indian ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Vikas Swarup told media here that India is taking up w the matter with UN. Unfortunately, in recent times, the people of the region have also become victims of sectarian conflict, terrorism and extreme economic hardship due to Pakistan’s occupationary policies,” he added.
Pakistan is going ahead with the legislative elections in Gilgit-Baltistan scheduled poll announced earlier will be held on June 8. Media reported that a jirga in the region has barred women from taking part casting their vote in one of the constituencies in the region, thereby depriving over 12,000 women of their right. However the reason for denying women in the constituency is not known as yet.
India has never before objected to Pakistan conducting polls in its occupied regions of Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan and the today’s objection is to drive Islamabad the point that both need compromises like mutual cross border firings and Pakistan should now stop demanding more lands of Kashmir and should be satisfied with whatever regions it has managed to get from wars with India. After all, both are illegally occupying Jammu Kashmir and both do not want to surrender the alien Kashmir lands to the legitimate owners so that justice prevails in South Asia. .
India and Pakistan obtained nukes thanks to their joint occupation of Jammu Kashmir.
